CodeCompass.work provides comprehensive exam preparation and continuing education content to help professionals master the National Electrical Code. We are an independent educational study aid and are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by any state licensing board.

1. WHO WE ARE
Code Compass ("Code Compass," "we," "us") operates codecompass.work, an AI-powered study and code-reference companion for the electrical trades. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or using the site, you agree to these Terms.
2. WHAT CODE COMPASS IS — AND ISN'T
Code Compass is a study aid and reference companion. It is NOT a substitute for the official National Electrical Code (NEC), your local adopted codes and amendments, the judgment of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), or a licensed professional. AI-generated answers can contain errors. Every answer is a starting point: always open your codebook and verify before relying on any answer for real-world electrical work, exams, or compliance decisions. You are solely responsible for how you use the information.
3. ACCOUNTS
You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. One account per person; accounts may not be shared, resold, or used to provide services to third parties without a commercial agreement.
4. SUBSCRIPTIONS AND BILLING
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring monthly basis through our payment processor (Stripe) until canceled. You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future charges and your access continues through the end of the paid period. Prices are stated at checkout.
5. PRICE CHANGES
We may change subscription prices. Price changes apply to NEW subscribers immediately and to EXISTING subscribers only after at least 30 days' advance notice, taking effect at your next billing cycle after the notice period. Any promotional or legacy rate we have expressly designated as grandfathered will be honored for as long as that subscription remains continuously active.
6. REFUNDS
Because access to paid content is delivered immediately, payments are non-refundable except where required by law or where we determine, at our discretion, that a refund is warranted (for example, verified duplicate charges or extended service failure).
7. FREE TIER AND FAIR USE
Free access is limited (including per-question and rate limits). We may adjust free-tier limits at any time. Automated scraping, bulk querying, or attempts to bypass paywalls, rate limits, or access controls are prohibited.
8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The Code Compass platform, including its software, design, original explanations, learning structure, and methodology, is our property. NEC and NFPA are trademarks of the National Fire Protection Association; Code Compass is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NFPA or any licensing authority. You retain no rights to resell or republish platform content.
9. USER CONTENT AND REVIEWS
If you submit reviews or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use, display, and adapt them (including in marketing) with your first name and trade role. We may remove content that is false, unlawful, or abusive. Feedback and feature ideas may be used to improve the product without obligation to you.
10. ACCEPTABLE USE
You may not use the service for unlawful purposes, to develop a competing dataset or product, to probe or disrupt our systems, or to misrepresent AI output as official code text.
11. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
The service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.
12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Code Compass shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for personal injury, property damage, code violations, failed inspections, or failed examinations arising from use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose.
13. TERMINATION
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using the service at any time.
14. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted with a new effective date, and continued use after posting constitutes acceptance.
15. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Missouri.
